Salah al-Din Yusuf (also known as Saladin) was a Muslim military leader during the Crusades. He was most known for leading the Muslims to defeat the Christians of Jerusalem during the Battle of Hattin. He did this so he could get the holy land and to also spread Sunni in Egypt from Shi’ia . Salah al-Din Yusuf was also the king of Egypt during the Middle Ages, so he had power over the entire country and he was willing to take charge. His campaigns were also to capture the countries of the Middle East like Damascus, Mosul and Aleppo. He was born in Takrit, Iraq during 1137 to a Kurdish Family. When he was young, he had interest in religious studies so he joined the Turkish Military with his uncle. He never gave up Jerusalem during the war and he couldn’t let the Christians take it away from his grasp. This is important because the Muslims during that time, wanted to take control of the holy lands. He also spread Sunni across Egypt when he was a king.
There was evidence that he was efficient and showed determination because his victory of Jerusalem was based off military skill. I believe he took the time to train his military and he wasn’t lazy like a standard king. He was determined to train his military well and efficiently because he believed that he could win.
