After the Nurse speaks with Romeo she hurries back to the Capulet house to inform Juliet of her lover’s idea and tells her, “Hie you to church. I must go another way/To fetch a ladder, by which you love/Must climb a bird’s nest soon when it is dark” (II.v.77-79). The Nurse demonstrates her devotion to Juliet as she expresses her desire to find “another way” (II.v.77) to help the young lovers spend their wedding night together and by doing so risks losing her job. She understands the true passion Romeo and Juliet have for each other and does everything she can to make them happy even if that means upsetting their families. This teaches the reader that helping those you love is more important than doing something that does not align with your own morals, like separating two star-crossed lovers because of a centuries-old family
In the story both the friar and nurse are well-liked in the community. They are also the only two that believed in their love, and handled the whole situation very well, unlike the family. The nurse is the best character in Romeo and Juliet. She cares the most about Romeo and Juliet. The nurse is the only character that unselfishly cares about Juliet. Romeo cares about her for her physical appearance, her mom doesn’t really know her very well, her dad isn’t a huge part of her life either, and without the nurse, Juliet would be pretty much alone in the world. She also cares about Juliet’s love of Romeo, however, which makes her care about him.
The Nurse helped Juliet be with Romeo without thinking about the consequences that might come after it. Juliet trusted the Nurses opinion because they were close and she was just a child. This caused the Nurse to make a decision that killed Juliet at the end of the
The Nurse was the first person to tell Juliet who Romeo was. This caused greater interest Romeo by Juliet. If Juliet did not know who Romeo was then she would have most likely given up on finding Romeo. Secondly, Juliet delivers a message to Romeo for them to marry. Like what Friar Laurence did this brought the two closer together.
It would have been impossible for Juliet to even communicate with Romeo if it weren’t for the nurse. The nurse blindly followed Juliet's orders without thinking of the results her words and actions could cause. Juliet looks up to the nurse who has taken care of her for years. When the nurse provides Juliet with no initial guidance Juliet is forced into making the decision of staying loyal to her husband or staying with her
She did not tell anyone that Romeo and Juliet were married. She should have told someone that they got married because they could have blamed her. The nurse helped her to get to Romeo. The Nurse would try anything to help Romeo and Juliet see each other. Their families hat each other with a passion.
Act I, Scene 1 starts with two Capulets, Sampson and Gregory, looking for a fight. Sampson is very confident that he will be an amazing swordsman while Gregory is quite doubtful. They run into a couple of servants from the Montague house, Abram and Balthasar. As Sampson pass' by the servants he taunts them with hand gestures and a play on that is not really intended for them. This initially starts a fight that grows as others get involved.
The play Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, is set in a city called Verona. It starts with Sampson and Gregory, the two servants from the house of Capulet joking “war of words” on a street of Verona. As they talk, Abraham and Balthasar, two servants from house Montague come in. Sampson bites his thumb as an insult to them and the fight starts. Benvolio and Tybalt appear and join the fight.
She was a mother figure to Juliet, and like the Friar, supported her when her own mom would not. The Nurse acted as a messenger for Romeo and Juliet. She was the only person to know about their wedding besides Friar Laurence. She even wanted them to spend their wedding night together saying “Hie you to church. Earlier that day, the Nurse had gone to meet up with Romeo. The two talked about the couple’s wedding plans, and the Nurse reported to Juliet. As seen in the text when it states, “O honey nurse, what news? / Hast thou met him?” (2.5.18-19).
“Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare entertains the audience through use of character, language and drama. The plot focuses on the theme of conflict and consequences, using deep characterisation, descriptive language and high drama to entertain. Act 3 Scene 1 focuses on a brutal feud between two enemies and Act 3 Scene 5 follows the patriarchal society’s approach to women marriage and societal expectations. Shakespeare forces the audience to engage with the idea of conflict and what it must have been like to live through this time. Shakespeare cleverly utilises a changing atmosphere in Act 3 Scene 1 to expertly entertain his audience.
A prime example is the fight between Mercutio and Tybalt in Act 3. One might believe that the feud was not the initial reason for the fight and may blame it more on the lack of maturity between Mercutio and Tybalt for provoking each other, or even Romeo’s reckless behavior that drove him to kill Tybalt. But if the rivalry had not existed, Tybalt would not have a grudge against Romeo for being in the opposite clan, thus leading to the fight and Romeo’s exile. During Act 3, Scene 1, when Romeo refuses to fight Tybalt, he replies, “Boy, this shall not excuse the injuries that thou hast done me. Therefore turn and draw” (Shakespeare, 3.1.62-63).
According to Derek Landy, a famous irish author and screenwriter, “ Violence is never the answer, until it’s the only answer.” This message stays true in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. In this dreamful play, there are two passionate lovers. On one hand there is Romeo, belonging to the Montague family, and on the other hand there is Juliet, belonging to the Capulet family. Unfortunately, for Romeo and Juliet, their families have been fighting in a never ending feud against each other.
Lastly, Shakespeare uses Romeo and Juliet to show true love. Nurse shows parental love to Juliet throughout the play. Despite being a servant to the Capulet household, she has a role equivalent to that of Juliet’s mothers and regards Juliet as her own. Even with the fact that Nurse is not the birth mother of Juliet, she still treats Juliet like a daughter. Nurse cares about Juliet and wants her to be happy and find success.”
