How Did Stalin Cause Ww2

Stalin had a very prominent role in WWII. Starting off, in August 1939 Stalin attempted to create an anti-Hitler pact with the Western powers. At the time the Western powers declined the offer most likely due to their distrust in the Russians and they didn’t see the worth of the Russians yet. But ultimately he signed a nonaggression pact with Hitler. Although Stalin didn’t like Hitler, he signed this pact in order to try and build up his country and army so that they stood a chance against the seemingly unbeatable German army. Soon in May of 1941 Stalin began to fear an impending danger of a German invasion. But the fear of the Germans gave Stalin the opportunity to appoint himself chairman of the Council of People’s Commissars. In other words, this made Stalin head of the government. Eventually, the Germans started invading Russia in order to obtain oil and other natural resources. Using the blitzkrieg attack method the Germans advanced heavily into Russian territory. While the Germans invaded Stalin used a brilliant tactic, wartime power. Using this wartime power Stalin promoted himself to Supreme Commander in Chief (Hingley).

At the time, little did the Germans know that winters in Russia caused much more danger than other winters. The winters in Russia cause mass destruction to the unprepared. Consequently, the weather combined with Stalin’s organized counterattack and his willingness to remain in the captivating during the battle allowed the Russians to gain victory. In the following years many Stalin’s supreme control would result in many wins in the Battlefield. Inevitably, the Germans forced cowardly retreated in May 1945.
