Lord and Lady Capulet affected Juliet's decisions drastically in the play. If they weren't the way they are, there could've been a better outcome and they wouldn’t have taken their own life in the end. They were way too strict on Juliet, she is just a stressed teenage girl torn between making her parents happy and her lover. It’s a hard decision for a teenager, you want to keep your parents happy and make them proud but you also need to make sure you keep yourself happy and do what's best for you. One way Juliet's parents affected her decisions is by trying to make her marry Paris when she wanted to marry Romeo. There has been an ongoing fight between the two families for years and since Romeo is a Montague and Juliet is a Capulet their families do not want them to be together. “Who set this ancient quarrel abroach? Speak, nephew. Were you by when it began?” (Shakespeare 1.1 105) The Montagues are confused on why the feud is roaring again. It happened so long ago they don’t even remember what it’s about all they know is they hate each other. The families fight makes it so the two young teens can’t be honest about their feelings. It also makes it so they have to hide their feelings towards each other from their parents. Romeo sneaks into the Capulet ball and Tybalt sees him which restarts the feud between the families “Uncle this is a Montague, our foe, a villain that is wither come in spite to scorn at our solemnity this night.” (Shakespeare 1.5 65) Tybalt hears Romeo and notices the voice is a Monatgue. “This, by his voice, should be a Montague.” (Shakespeare 1.5 60) Tybalt realizes that Romeo is a Montague because of his voice.
