The first few heavy elements were created by nuclear fusion reactions inside few of the earliest stars. Once these stars arrived at the end of their life span a few of them exploded in the form of supernovae. This massive explosions lead to the scattering traces of more heavy elements in the universe such as carbon, oxygen and iron. Since then these elements have been continuously produced in the deep core of many stars and catapulted throughout the universe.
