The first moon landing improved the state of the world in many more ways than someone would originally think. The process of getting to the moon resulted in great advances in technology. Not only did the event improve technology, it also improved NASA’s determination. The moon landing inspired people all around the U.S., connecting NASA to the people. This led to a whole new era of space exploration. This success boosted morale and it created the feeling that NASA could do anything. With all of these advancements NASA could grow and achieve more than ever before. The first moon landing was a game changer, it was a frontier, something that will never be forgotten, and will always be remembered as a revolutionary achievement. After …show more content…
was already behind in the Space Race, with the Soviet Union successfully launching Luna 2 (the first space probe to hit the moon). NASA at first felt discouraged, the thought of even landing on the moon seemed impossible, but in an interview with Neil Armstrong he talks about how they soon regained their spirits, realizing how important this mission really was. He talks about how there was a lot of pressure, and to them this was the future of all humanity. They needed to land this spaceship on the moon more than anything. They started from the lowest point, slowly building knowledge and getting a better understanding of the universe. Before long they had done it, NASA was confident in Apollo 11, and was sure that it would get the astronauts safely to the moon and …show more content…
With this success NASA was improving rapidly, constantly advancing their old tech. Now that NASA had all these advancements and a reinforced determination, they could now set their sights on something greater, something far better than sending a man to the moon. The end of the Cold War was drawing near, and NASA had officially entered the Space Age. In Neil Armstrong’s speech, taken place in 1994 at the White House, he says, “During the Space Age we have increased the knowledge of our universe a thousandfold…to you we say we have only completed a beginning…there are still great ideas undiscovered, breakthroughs available...there are places to go, beyond belief.” Landing on the moon was only the beginning. It was a trigger, causing the events that came after, such as the launch of the Sputnik 1 satellite, which was the true start of the Space Age. The first moon landing laid the groundwork for many space endeavors, including the space shuttle era and further exploration of the solar system, leading to now, as NASA is working on further planetary
