The pharaoh controlled Egypt so it wouldn't go out of hand. He also was the leader of religion and praised the gods. The Egyptians considered him as a god because he was a very important to the people of Egypt. The pharaoh was kind of like a president because he ruled both the upper and lower Egypt.
Some of the officials were the Visor, Nomarks and Monarchy. They all helped the Pharaoh by reporting things to him, like if someone is doing something that they aren't supposed to do. Each Official has a different rank and the Visor is just under the Pharaoh. The Pharaoh usually picks someone that he knows well to be a visor like a trusted friend. After the Visor is the Nomarks and they ruled a curtain area watching over the people. Lastly, after the Nomarks is the Monarchy and their job basically is to report to the Visor or Pharaoh about misbehavior.
Many people wanted to steal jewels from the pyramids because If the Pharaoh, king or other high ranked official died they would get buried with their valuable possessions. So the thieves would want to get into the tombs because there were jewels and valuable thing in there. All the people who tried to steal the jewels got punished.
