The Impact of Coaches on My Life It has been said that coaches will affect more people in one year than most people will in a lifetime. Many people do not realize that the best coaches have a much deeper impact on the athletes they coach than just teaching the fundamentals of their sport. Coaches have the unique position to affect the lives of athletes in many ways both positively and negatively. The best coaches transcend their sport and touch athlete’s hearts and minds. They know how to nurture each one of those parts of an athlete that make a person who they are. He is a football coach at Arizona Christian University, a leader in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and a teacher for the 3D Coaching Institute. The 3D Coaching Institute is teaching coaches to coach all the levels of an athlete. The base of the 3D triangle is fundamentals, level two is heart, and level three is the mind. Almost all coaches coach in the first dimension and there are several who go beyond the first level and get into the heart of a player. Very few coaches approach the third level and coach the mind. Coaches either do not know how to coach in the first dimension or they refuse to commit the time necessary to get there. Without knowing it my intentions have always been to become a three dimensional coach. Just like any other coach the goal is to win games but I have always ultimately cared more about the type of kids my players are than how they performed. Attitude and improvement are more important than wins and losses. Coach Chambers has verified and strengthened the very reason I got started coaching. I work every day to reach the lofty goal of becoming a 3D coach
