How Do Donuts Come To America?

Donuts have been in America for many years, but have you ever wondered how they came here to America? Maybe you’ve wondered how they came to be the way they are today. Donuts were brought to America by Dutch immigrants, and they had a different recipe for this pastry. The normal ingredients included apples, prunes, and raisins, which were always put towards the middle. The dutch donut didn’t have a hole in it the middle, and this caused for the dough in the center of the donut to be raw. The donut also had a different shape. Unlike the current donut, which is normally circular, the old dutch donut was shaped like a diamond or twisted into different shapes. There are a few theories of how the donut got it’s hole, all three of them involving a boat's captain. The first of states that the captain ran into a storm out at sea while eating a donut. In response to this, he impaled his donut of one of the planks of the wheel so he could keep eating while keeping the boat upright. The second theory states that he just didn’t like the nuts in the middle. So he took them all out and told the boat’s cook to throw them out.
