In TKR, Amir betrayed Hassan. Amir and Hassan are childhood friends (Hosseini 15-16, 19, 32-34, 47-48). One time, Amir witnessed Hassan get sexually assaulted but did not say or do anything (Hosseini 79). The second time, Amir hid his birthday gift, which was a watch and money under Hassan’s mattress (Hosseini 104). In “LNE”, the barber betrayed his comrades in the revolutionary community. The barber and Captain Torres are enemies. The barber is a revolutionary and is part of a revolutionary community (Tellez 3). Captain Torres is the leader of the government (Tellez 1-2). The barber did not help the people that are captured by Captain Torres (Tellez 2). The barber refuses to help his comrades that are being captured, later killed by Captain Torres (Tellez 4). Furthermore, betrayal means “to hurt someone who trusts you, such as a friend or relative by not giving help or by doing something morally wrong” (“betray”). Therefore, the betrayer's behavior in not giving help makes TKR and "LNE" betrayals
