Dr, Suess was the author that best used writing craft to convey meaning using parody, irony, and exaggeration. Dr, Seuss is a well known author who writes children's books. In his book The Butter Battle he brings to attention the dangers of war, accepting differences and the pointlessness of war. He uses the book to show children the real consequences of war. Dr, Seuss uses pardroy, irony, and exaggeration beautifully in the book. Dr, Suess' great use of parody helps tell the message in a funner and kinder way. The quote from The Butter Battle “And he ordered the boy in the back to figger how to build me some sort of a triple sling jigger”( Suess, 11) shows how he uses parody of the boy in the back room to bring to attention the recklessness of developing weapons for war. This can be seen in that quote, “Fight! Fight for the butter side up! Do or die!” (Suess 15). He is exaggerating that if you don't fight you die but if you don't fight you will most likely not die. Do or die is a common saying in war meaning keep going even if death is the result. Exaggeration is usually an easy satire to spot but he doesn't make it as known, showing he uses satire the best. He shows exaggeration again in, “So you can't trust a zook who spreads bread underneath! Every zook must be watched! He has kinks in his soul!” (Suess 8). He is saying that you can't trust someone on the other side of the war you fight by using exaggeration. In the quote he has the best writing craft. Suess uses exaggeration in a different way than usually seen. It is usually very easy to spot, he knows what to do and how to do it to get his point
