At the beginning of the play, Scrooge is angry and miserable and dislikes Christmas. Near the middle of the play, Scrooge sees himself and a grouch. At the end of the play, he knows what he has done and changes wale making amends with the people he knows. To summarize Scrooge is a grumpy old man that gets visited by three ghosts and changes for the better. Scrooge is a grumpy, cheap old man, that hates Christmas and anyone who likes it.
By Scrooge learning that he can not go back to change the past, he starts to realize he can still change by changing his present self. By Scrooge learning that Christmas is about spending time with family and finding joy in the things that people have. This makes him want to spend more time with the people in his life. He also realizes how much he has compared to others yet is never happy. Lastly, Scrooge learning that his present affects him in the future gives him the final reason to change himself.
The play “Christmas Carol” includes three spirits that visit Scrooge that change him in some way. The Ghost of Christmas Past, The Ghost of Christmas Present, and the Ghost of the Future are all similar because of their main motive, to change Scrooge. For example, Scrooge says “ Remove me! I cannot bear it.” The Ghost of Christmas Past had shown memories that were haunting Scrooge, which Scrooge had tried to forget them in the past.
In Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol Stave five, we see a changed Scrooge, he has decided to change after seeing what will happen to him if he doesn’t. He wakes up and shouts “I will live in the past, the present, and the future! The spirits of all three shall strive within me. O Jacob Marley! Heaven and the Christmas time be praised for this!

In the play a Christmas Carol the main character Ebenezer Scrooge has had some life changing events when he learned to loved christmas again. He changed from a grouchie, mean and unsociable old man to a nice loving kind geyser. Let me share with you how Scrooge has changed from these three things.
Before the visits of the spirits, Scrooge was at work with his clerk Bob Catchits, and after being visited by his nephew and the portly gentleman, Scrooge knew that Bob would share the same idea as them and ask for the evening. Scrooge believe that Christmas was “ a poor excuse for picking a man’s pocket every twenty-fifth of December!” (Dickens 11) as he discussed with Bob. His idea of Christmas portrayed the tightfisted man he is and how his meaning of Christmas showed that he has not in favor of the Holiday. As a business man who defines Christmas with a negative connotation, it contrasted with the experience he had as kid working for a miser like him.
In “The Christmas Carol”, Scrooge is described as changing his way of living and thinking toward others. Some people believe that he had a change of heart because of his fear of death, but I believe that it was a genuine change in his behavior. Scrooge starts to regret how he previously acted with his money, how little most people cared about him or even wanted to speak about him, and his own neglected death. This makes him regret what he has done and sparks his change.

In the play, a Christmas Carol Scrooge went through a transformation because he had trauma from his childhood, became angry, and learned to adjust. Scrooge had a hard childhood and was neglected and forgotten. He wasn't cared for and had lots of loss. In the play, the Christmas carol Scrooge's older self is mean and cold-hearted compared to his younger self when he was generous and kind In the play a Christmas Carol Scrooge had a bad childhood, his father was abusive and he was sent to boarding school to be forgotten.
There was a boy singing a Christmas carol at my door last night, and I should like to have given him something, that’s all. ’”(Stave 2, pg.38). When Scrooge was with the Ghost of Christmas Past, he sees himself as a child, lonely and is ashamed when he thought about the time of when he was shouting at the little boy that was caroling at his door the other night. ” ’This boy is Ignorance. This girl is Want…’ ‘Have they no refuge or resource?’ cried Scrooge?’
How ironic of him to be born again on christmas, as it being the day Jesus was born hence the reason for the season. The transformation was a result of his past night journeys with his Christmas Ghost. The change within Scrooge made the town and all the people around him much happier and gave them the ability to enjoy the holidays. (Karson
Scrooge in "The Christmas Carol" shows how much he hates Christmas, and everyone he works with to change to a happy person with the help of others. Scrooge emphasizes, "What a fine day fellow... An Intelligent boy, a remarkable boy. " This is a critical part of this novel because this shows Scrooge overcame his dislike of Christmas and his entire disliking of people. Instead of rudely gesturing to people, he is now starting to act nicer, and more mature.
This play was about how Ebenezer Scrooge lived a full life of regrets and sorrow, because of his foolish and unkind love for money. Toward the end of his life he revisits painful memories and lost opportunities of love and kindness! By looking over some of his mean times he is regretting them, and becoming a changed man! In scene three there was a young boy standing at Scrooge’s door singing beautiful Christmas carols.

And for once, he is seeing others as individuals who have a purpose in this world. Scrooge’s change is already starting to progress as he starts to feel compassion towards others.
