Horace's writings became very popular because of the style. He wrote about things that could help people through tough times, by offering words of advice, and writings entertaining and inspiring writings. Horace was so good at writing inspiring stories and odes because of his past life. One reason is because he wrote about political topics. Horace was a well known and well established writer during his time period. This would mean that things going on in politics would directly relate to him because he had a voice. He could not only change of alter some people's opinion just by stating his, but could also make issues in politics known just by making a story or issuing a quote. Another reason is because Horace wrote odes for the emperor Augustus. (Poets.org). This shows that Horace's background influenced his writings because he wrote stories for and based off of people who he was friends with. One last way that Horace wrote about things that relate to him has to do with his style of writing. Horace tended to write in the ever so popular Greek meter style, which are also known as odes.
