How Has The Sun Changed Over The Years

1182 Words5 Pages

Have you ever wondered about what influences the weather here on Earth? Or how the climate here on Earth has changed over the past years? Do you believe that the Sun’s energy influences Earth’s weather? Believe it or not, the Sun provides a significant amount of energy to Earth’s atmosphere (Hess 2016). The amount of energy the Sun provides is significant, the amount of energy can vary from day to day. While there are many reasons as to why there are various changes between the relationship of the Sun and the weather, most of the changes can be define as direct or indirect changes. The Sun’s energy has a significant effect on our day to day weather and influences the atmosphere here on Earth. The Sun is a main source of our energy here on Earth, the Sun’s energy influences most living and physical activities in the …show more content…

Over millions of years, the changes of the solar intensity are an important factor that has an impact on our climate here on Earth (Baker). Due to the changes in the rate of solar heating over the past one hundred years and cannot be significant for the magnitude and disperse of the rise in the overall temperature of the globe during this time frame. There is no evidence that is strong enough for indirect impacts on our climate due to the changes during the twentieth century solar output (Baker). The Total Solar Irradiance (TSI) can be defined as the rate at which energy from the sun reaches the top of Earth’s atmosphere (Baker). TSI can change day to day and week to week. These fast, short term changes are a cycle in relation to sunspots in the outer most layer of the sun that lasts almost eleven years. The Total Solar Irradiance can vary in seasons, time of day, and latitude (Baker). It is reason to believe that the small changes in the short amount of solar energy that is absorbed does in fact make a difference in our climate
