Racism is problematic because it is normal and has been happening for 148 years after the 245 years that blacks were enslaved. Racism is hard to recognize unless it is blatant. This problem is significant to me because i refuse to grow old and have my children be subject to oppression and racism. I have a strong belief that the system will refuse to change on it 's on and that issues surrounding race do not become proprieties.

We have been taught and brainwashed by society to care about others and not for ourselves for instance look at the Chinese Immigrants. They were the only ethnic group in the history of the united states to be specifically denied entrance into the country. When allowed entrance into the united states they were denied civil liberties . They were prohibited by law to testify in court, to own property, vote, work and they were denied to marry outside of their race. Africa has the most resources in the world but holds the poorest countries in the world. Since slavery everything has been about race and in today 's world race and oppression of the black community is still very relevant. This country was built and shaped by the trans-Atlantic slave trade and prison industrial system after the fall of the moors and colonization of African and native lands. If African Americans have the mindset of caring for irrelevant issues instead of the issues in the black community and not trying to build and strengthen the black community to overcome these centuries of oppression and hardship the black community will continue to be in the bottom of the barrel. The black community must stand up against systematic racism and oppression so that color will never be an issue in the centuries to
