Sexuality and the Media Todays media portrays sexuality as something that is easily tossed around and nothing to think much on. This media almost always ignore std protection, thinking about sex, and use of contraception. Music videos and music always ignore these things and genres like rap never talk about the use of contraception. Movies don't have any talk it's usually a quick action that leads to sex. Lastly tv shows usually use sex as crude humor or in a show like Two and a Half Men sex is just another part of daily life. The first source of media that incorrectly portrays sexuality is music. Music and music videos almost always use sex as a normal. In things such as love songs and rap songs artists portray the attitude that sex is just a normal thing that is the key to everything. If you have sex or “Make love” you answer the question to everything. This message ignores the fact that if you just have sex without thinking about it or without using protection you could ruin your life and maybe even your partners life. Movies always have unrealistic sex scenes that in reality would probably be an extremely bad choice. Movies have sex scenes that happen so quickly, people that barely know each other and have no idea what that other person might have just have sex. It makes sex seem impulsive and in no movie have i ever seen a sex scene in which any type of contraband is ever referenced to. This means that these people who don't know or barely know anything about each other have unprotected sex? The risks are great! What are the chances that this person didn't have quick unprotected sex with many other people? They could easily spread STDS to each other. Though all these things could happen movies never even hint to them. They make you think “Oh if they don't use protection and nothing happens to them i should be
