This news article is about the growing addiction of porn that technology around us has allowed for a more sexualized culture. The article makes a big point how children and adults both are having an increasing addiction to porn, and the focus is on getting rid of access to on demand pornography inside Hilton hotels (Hallowell). This is great that Hilton hotel is taking a step forward in noticing our “pornified culture” and stopping encouragement towards it. This news article relates to the Tedx Talk by scholar Gail Dines titled “Growing up in a Pornified Culture” that we watched in class.
Autoethnography is a research tool that allows the author to better understand and interpret religion, culture, and beliefs by relating it to their background and personal experiences (Adams, Ellis, & Jones, 2017). The research article, “Conflict between Religious Beliefs and Sexuality: An Autoethnography,” by Carlos E. Gerena, was written with this purpose in mind. Gerena draws from his experiences as a Latino, a member of a family, and an active follower of the Pentecostal faith to explore the growing debate between religion and sexuality. The article I chose to write about was called “Conflict between Religious Beliefs and Sexuality: An Autoethnography” written by Carlos E Gerena. An autoethnography is a narrative where the author relives his or her life and uses the important events that can be used as evidence to back up the main focuses of the text. In this story Gerena starts off by describing the Pentecostal church him and his family attended every Sunday. He was very involved with the church and enjoyed being a part of the choir, but a very common topic every Sunday was homosexuality. The cities of Sodom and Gomorrah was a story that the author remembers vividly.

Explain current trends of Sexual experience amongst young people- Using the data from the 2008 National Survey of Australian Secondary Students and Sexual Health I have discovered the current trends of sexual experience among young people. This survey was done in a school and was done on the year 10 and 12. This information shows that almost all children have experienced some sexual activity including deep kissing, sexual touching or oral sex. Year 12 students has been proven to have experienced sexual activity more than year 10 and it also has been shown that the overall rates were higher among females than males.91% of year 10 and 12 reported that their sexual attraction is for only the opposite sex while 6% are sexual attracted to both sex, 1% to people of the same sex and 2% were not sure.

The idea that Judaism is an extremely close minded religion which fosters negative and unhealthy attitudes toward sexuality and relationships is true to an extent. Compared to other stricter religions, the laws that Judaism emphasize aren’t that harsh but they still are unreasonable to follow with the way society is today. Jewish Law states that the act of sex is not shameful or sinful, but it also states that the desire comes from a place of evil impulse (Yetzer Hara) which seems like a contradiction.
