Hudson King Mr. Jaskula English 10B (3rd hour) 8 March 2024 The Camps. Auschwitz was Adolf Hitler's final solution: he wanted to isolate all of the Jews. Hitler didn't just want to shoot them, he wanted them to suffer and work until they can’t anymore. Auschwitz was the largest sub-camp called Buna. There were 10,000 prisoners in the camp in 1944. This event was one of the most devastating and deadly camps in all of World War 2. The people were starved and if they didn’t do what the nazis asked they were shot on the spot, some were just killed because they couldn’t work because they were old. The sick prisoners were left at the camp by the soldiers on January 27, 1945 when Germany won Hitler was trying to rule the world so he wanted to expand Germany into different countries. The Jews didn’t know what was happening, they thought they were going somewhere, they never thought the rest of their lives were going to be like this. Auschwitz has a big impact on today and during WW2. Everybody that was fighting during the war had no idea this was happening. People discovered this was happening a couple years later. When the Americans found out, more than 500,000 people had died. The Americans were very surprised at what they saw, the people were torn to the bone and a lot of other things, they were sleeping on wood beds and a lot of other terrible things. There were more than 44,000 camps, including ghettos, between 1933 and 1945. People didn’t discover them until the mid 40’s. This was known as the Holocaust. Auschwitz is the largest of all of the death camps in all of Europe.
