To some followers, a leader can either be accepted or rejected solely based on your nonverbal communication. Understanding the importance of nonverbal communication is vital to establish a good rapport with your followers. Of all the nonverbal communication, the most important are the hand gestures a leader uses. Hand gestures range from a handshake the placement of the hands or even the way you can talk with your hands. Also, the range of hand gestures you can have is three hand gestures positive hand gestures, defensive hand gestures, and no hand gestures (Tally & Temple, 2015).
