How Should Cyber Bullying Be Prosecuted As A Crime

Last year, more than 13 million kids were victims of cyberbullying. 10 percent were threatened with physical harm. Eight percent committed suicide. Cyber bullying should be prosecuted as a crime because it will reduce cyber bullying in general and some people are so addicted to their phones that they can’t log out of sites or stop checking it. If a teacher sees bullying they try hard to stop it. When someone sees cyber bullying they think someone else will do something, or It’s not their problem. In the united states many things are considered a crime somehow, in all the things that are considered a crime cyberbullying is not one of them. Cyber bullying should be a crime because it will reduce cyberbullying. In the article “What is Cyberbullying” it says “20% of youth ages 11-18 have been a victim of cyberbullying. 10% of youth ages 11-18 have been both a victim and an offender.” This shows that if a person is bullied on the internet they have a chance of turning around and being the bully to someone else. In “The dangers of cyberbullying” it says “Technology has become an essential part of our society and our homes. Use of technology has extended beyond simple entertainment. For example, teens often use their cell phones to contact their parents in emergency situations, not just send texts with their friends or play games.” This states that some people don’t just have their phone for social media but they have them in case of an emergency too. Also 50% of teens feel they are addicted to their mobile devices or social media
