During the period between 1450 and 1750, European traders started to get more involved in Chinas and Japan's politics. One similarity between China and Japan in their relations with European traders is that in both countries european traders were welcomed at first, however the relationship soon turned sour. In China, the Qing dynasty sold limited trading privileges to European powers but confined them only to Guangzhou. The British was not satisfied with this arrangement, so they asked for more trading rights. As a result, In a letter to King George III Emperor Qianlong states that the chinese had no need for British products.

The early Han Dynasty and Mauryan Empire both used conquest for expansion and ministered political policies; however, declined separately caused by the invasion of Han and financial collapse of Mauryan. To enlarge their empire, both China and India used subjection. In 141B.C.E, Han Wudi, the “martial emperor”, pursed imperial expansion.

Prior to 1450 C.E. India and China’s social structures were similar based on functioning off of social hierarchy within their civilizations while having heavy influence of religion to bring organization and proper regulations to their population but just as different because of social mobility for their people, how classes were divided and the way religion influenced their structure of society. India’s social structure had the classes where if they were born into wealth then they were part of a caste that no one could achieve if they were not born into one. Every day we use our culture. Whether it be to argue claims, express opinions, or make decisions, culture plays a part in each area. Culture is who we are, one’s identity, its extent is enormous over our views and actions. A person grows up surrounded with culture at a young age. This can affect how they learn and what they learn.
It is virtually impossible for one to survive with the old cultural practices in this present world that is dynamic and fast moving towards the direction of a free world where all that matters is individual happiness and the ability to meet their goals and aspiration in life without caring anything to do with their traditional cultures (Jordan 225). The present times going by the views and ideas contained in this book demands that people should be ready and willing to embrace each other and avoid incidences of discriminating against any of them on the basis of culture or traditions among other reasons. It thus suffices to say that The Chinese in All of Us" by Richard Rodriguez is important since it addresses the issues that are synonymous with the modern times. The text addresses the Cultural Revolution and changes that have made it virtually impossible for one to hold to specific cultural practices for a very long period of time since the current environment can no longer support such a lifestyle. We live in a world that has become a place of mixed religions, languages and traditions and the effects of interaction have made it possible for people to develop a new culture which is that of postmodernism that is only after upsetting the old ways of life alongside their traditional values that
Many debate over the whether structure or agency has a larger part in shaping human behavior. Structure is the repeating patterned features of society which affect the choices and opportunities available for a person. On the other hand, agency is the limit of how people act alone and make their own unrestrained choices in life. In the debate of structure vs. agency, whether a person acts independently or in a conduct dictated by social structure is discussed. Throughout my aunt, Margaret Gee’s, childhood as a Vietnamese-American immigrant, she had to deal with the patriarchal ideals that are commonly found in Asian family structures.
For the longest time, Japan had been an isolationist country, a country that let no foreigners enter it, but that changed in 1853 Japan started to open its borders once more. As it did so, Western influence on its culture began to grow. While the changes in its war tactics were the most famous and well-known form of Westernization, there were many smaller ways Japan's culture changed. Some of these ways were changes in fashion and architecture. Some of the biggest changes in Japanese culture that were caused by Westernization was the fashion industry.
Similarities and difference between Ancient China and Ancient India Similarities India has 2 empires, the Maurya and Gupta Empire. The Gupta Empire lasted from 320-600 CE, ever since the death of Samudragupta. Throughout high school, I was taught and have researched many facts about cultures and civilizations throughout the world. My 9th grade honors literature teacher often told my class, when giving us ‘bizarre” information about other cultures, that it’s “not wrong, not right, but different”. However, despite the looks of shock or disapproval in my classmate’s eyes, my world perspective already changed, after I moved to japan. I moved to Okinawa, Japan in the summer before I started fourth grade. As I stepped off the plane one thing I noticed was the vast social differences that separate Japan and the United States.

Paulo Coelho states that “Culture makes people understand each other better. And if they understand each other better in their soul, it is easier to overcome the economic and political barriers” (Coelho, 2006). Coelho explains the universal truth that if you truly want to understand a person you need to understand their roots and where they come from. Japanese and American culture have a few similarities but have a lot of differences that form two very distinct cultures. Their differences can be traced from their beginnings and their founder’s beliefs.
Personal Statement I would like to confirm that it is my motivating of Chinese culture that ignited my passion for cultural and creative industry. As a Tourism Management major student, I was able to explore the Chinese diversified cultures and landscapes, which offered me an insightful understanding of the Chinese cultural development. Under the guidance of commercialization, some cultural heritages have developed into huge tourism souvenir markets full of counterfeit and shoddy products. The over-commercialization reveals the fact that the Chinese culture is facing a severe situation. The country calls for a better cultural development strategy, which cultural and creative industry can offer.
