Violence, of any type, has become a huge and important issue that is going around the country. Gun violence affects the lives of everyone in this country. In cities across the country, gun violence is one of the leading causes of death. Gun violence has been going on for a long time now and something needs to be done about before it is too late.
In America, violence especially gun violence has stopped a lot of young people from feeling safe at school or at a public place. Gun violence has become a real issue that many students have to deal with or are afraid that it will happen to them. According to a study, 58% of all unintentional firearm deaths involve young people 10-29 years old. In the United States, gun violence has become a critical public health problem. Youth violence includes school shootings that are committed by a student, to stop these kinds of violent actions we can pass gun control laws that stop young people from getting guns they use in these shootings. A study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in July of 2000 showed that a total of 3,792 kids 19 years or younger were killed by gunfire in 1998 – enough for more than 246 Columbines. Some of the gun control laws that are already in place make getting a background check a requirement to get a gun. In order to stop the violence that either affects the youth or the young people do to others, we need to find their reasons for doing these things. To stop the violence of any kind it is going to take some time and resources but it can be done. There are some programs that were created by criminal justice and police strategies or representing community efforts that are specifically designed for young people to deal with the problems of violence such as the Ceasefire
