Throughout society today, the idea of foster care to many people is that every child finds an amazing foster home or a home where they at least get everything a child could need. Kinship helps for the fact that there are only so many foster parents so it helps to have the children family take care of them. In the article Maryland tries to strengthen foster care for the gay and transgender youths they try and explain new policies, and what they are doing to welcome the LGBTQ community.
“Maryland’s new policy does not go as far as those in some other states. For example it does not require that all foster parents undergo training on working with LGBTQ youths”( The Washington Post, Paragraph 13) The kids are suppose to feel comfortable in a home they were put in by being themselves but many kids hide who they are. “ Maryland officials are taking steps to create a more welcoming foster-care system for gay, bisexual and transgender children”( The Washington Post, Paragraph 1) .
