Animal cruelty is one of the biggest hot topics of the United States today. The abuse happens everyday and not many people know about it. Conditions of the animals are that they are beaten, or even sometimes killed. The act of failing to take care of your pet, can leave the animal with trauma and physiological issues for the rest of its lifetime. These animals can’t comprehend what is happening to them, therefore in most cases, they are unable to fight back. Due to the authorities, some are rescued, but some however aren’t so lucky. According to the Humane Society, approximately 1 million pets are abused or killed per year. According to the ASPCA, 7.6 million animals enter animal shelters every year. The amount of animals being abused is growing tremendously every upcoming year. However, many people don’t believe the cruelty is wrong. Since the brain is so much smaller and developed differently, they can’t understand what is exactly happening. However, I believe that animals should have equal rights just like humans. Just because they are not a regular person, doesn’t mean they shouldn 't have rights! According to peta.org, animals right are based off the idea that animals are entitled to being treated with love and kindness, just as humans. Now having these animals rights is not going to completely delete animal abuse forever, however, it will lessen the percent of it happening each year. According to the Wisconsin Humane Society, animal abuse does not only have an effect on the dog for many years after in a form of trauma, however it also has an effect on children, as well as other people who have witnessed what has been happening. Even though the abuser does not think anything of it, they don’t realize that the animal suffers these long-term
