To begin with, in Steve Jobs’s 2005 Commencement speech he tells his audience about three stories from his life. In each story he leaves a message, the first being that life will connect the dots, second to find and do what you love, and last to live each day as if it was the last. Jobs’s first message about connecting the dots, he says that the dots can’t connect looking forward that they can only be connected looking backwards. To trust in something, anything that the dots will connect in your future somehow, someway. I do not agree with Steve Jobs on this. My reason is because I don’t like to do things impulsively, I prefer to have a well thought out plan much more than allowing life to just connect dots for me. Mostly, I drop whatever I dislike right there and then to not waste my time. He talks about how even when he was fired from the company he started, he continued doing what he loved to do. Jobs quotes, “It was awful tasting medicine, but I guess the patient needed it. Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don’t lose faith.” I do agree with Steve Jobs’s message/advice here. Of course life will not always be greatly cooperative, especially for any entrepreneur, but we learn to continue with what we love and enjoy to do for our life.
