I would like to submit this letter as an explanation of my reasoning behind my decision to defer my attendance at TUJ. This letter will also be used to explain how my time has been allocated during the deferment period and act as documentation toward possible eligibility for TUJ's upcoming scholarships.
The reasoning behind my decision was twofold. Upon my initial acceptance into TUJ, I had originally planned on using a private student loan, as well as federal aid, to act as proof of my financial viability. However, it came to my attention that a cosigner was required in order to obtain a loan. My immediate family were unable to act as cosigners or financial backers due to their income situation. At first, a position at the Office of Student Life opened up. This allows me to interact with students on a daily basis and improve my communication and presentation skills. The office is responsible for a variety of projects revolving around the well-being of the student body, enabling one to master amazing levels of flexibility and creative problem-solving in an office setting. Shortly after, the business office on campus offered me a position as well. The Business Office is in charge of the college's accounting and payroll, giving me excellent insight into how an accounting department is run. I was very excited for this opportunity due to my wish to pursue accounting either a minor or specialty of my degree. I am very grateful for the skills sets both these positions will be teaching me and hope that I might have the privilege of continuing to be part of a work-study program upon my entrance into
