Gun control and gun violence are 2 of the hottest topics in the united states as of today. There are people of both sides of the spectrum that have 2 totally different views on gun laws to stop violence. On one side of the spectrum americans believe that guns should be completely banned that no law abiding american should be able to own a gun and or make guns harder to obtain. Then on the other side of the spectrum there are the americans that believe that gun laws should not be touched and believe that due to the second amendment right that guns can never be taken away. There is one thing that both sides have in common and that is how to stop mass shootings, police brutality, and to keep the children in schools safe.
The numbers of death in the united states due to guns is around 30,000 deaths per year(goldberg). Yet there is nothing being done by the government or any states to stop gun related deaths even tho on october 1st 2017 there was a mass shooting that marked the 273 mass shooting in us history(Younge). The second amendment right is the right to bear arms and due to that a lot of people believe that it is illegal to make stricter gun laws without infringing on law abiding U.S citizens. That is nothing farther from the truth the second amendment don't not stop laws from being made on stricter gun laws it is more of a political aspect that stops gun laws from being put into place. The placement of stricter gun laws inevitably will not stop gun violence because “Taking away guns from the law-abiding, as our survey shows, will not change what's in our hearts, but will make us more vulnerable” (Williamsen). Thinking on all the reasons why guns should be taken away shouldn't there be a bunch of reasons on why guns shouldn't be taken
