The Kite Runner Individual Project- Artistic Rendering For my individual project of The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini I decided to make a small painting. My painting contains a variety of pieces with a significant value. Starting of, I included 2 flags which are, the American and Afghani. These flags represent the 2 places in which Amir lived. His childhood was lived in Afghanistan until the Taliban took over and experienced a tragic escape next to his father Baba. This escape was to California, USA to be exact in San Francisco. Their Amir created a family and learned to be an independent man sadly to the point where his father past away. Secondly, I included 2 Mosques. These two Mosques represent the Muslim religion. This tree represent the story of Rostam and Sohrab. Under the pomegranate tree is where Amir used to read Hassan the story. It is also important because Hassan decided to name his son Sohrab in remembrance to that story. This tree was a blossom in their relationship. They carved their names on it. At the end of the book, Amir notices the existence of the tree except that it doesn't blossom. Finally, the most important symbol a kite. The kite has more than one significance but I choose fate. I believed this was the most appropriate approach since the start of the book we could see the significance of a kite tournament. For Amir winning the kite tournament was the only he could make Baba proud. His father always lacked affection for Amir by never showing fondness. He always thought his dad blamed him for the death of his mother. Winning the tournament made Baba proud which meant he showed importance to Amir. This was all he seeked for. In another situation the kite shows irony. The irony of Hassan and Amir participating in a contest in strive for victory. The half-brothers end up in the same situation.
