Partying has been a tradition for mankind since the beginning of time. In ancient Greece, the Festival of Dionysus was one of the largest annual celebrations. It took place during the Spring and lasted for six days. The festival honored Dionysus, the god of wine and fertility. Dionysus was particularly noteworthy for his influence in art, literature, and theatre.
Many people travel to Broadway to witness a performance from actors, just as the Greeks might have done. Also, Greek theater may have sparked the idea for one of the largest sources of entertainment in the Western world; motion picture films. The live theater plays evolved into a movie, which people could watch at any time they wanted. Besides Greeks contributed theater to Western Civilization, they also contributed physical art. This type of art includes sculptures and architecture, both of which can be seen plentifully throughout the Western world.
Democracy: Democracy was first conceived in classical Athens, where voters were given the opportunity to participate in politics and make decisions. Many contemporary Western democracies, like the United States, Nigeria, and the United Kingdom, have adopted and modified this concept of democratic governance. Arts and Literature: The accomplishments of the ancient Greek authors and artists still inspire and have an impact on Western art and literature. For instance, plays by classical Greek authors like Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides are still performed and studied today, and their themes of politics, conflict, and love are still relevant.
The ancient Greeks were known for their love of beauty and aesthetics, and their art and literature are still celebrated today. The ancient Greeks were famous for their epic poetry, such as Homer's Iliad and the Odyssey. These works have inspired countless writers throughout history, including Dante Alighieri, William Shakespeare, and James Joyce. Art is another area in which Classical Greece left a lasting legacy. Roman culture had the began the experience of theatre around 550 and 220 B.C. As Greek ideas has heavily influences the Roman ideas. Romans borrowed Greek ideas and adapted into their own. In 240 B.C., the Romans truly experienced theatre with the performance of Etruscan histriones. Histriones was a term that was used to called actors/performers.
My topic for this ISP will be the similarities between Victor Frankenstein and his creation. In the novel, Frankenstein and his creation seem to be complete opposites, but as I kept reading I noticed that the two are actually quite similar. I chose this topic because it interests me. I really liked the way my perspective on the two characters drastically changed just as I read more of the novel.

Like Tragedy, Comedy was intended as an educational tool for the masses. However, Comedy was intrinsically political by nature, whereas Tragedy was mythological. They both serve a similar purpose, however, just that one does it openly and the other does it subtly. Aristophanes, the only lasting Greek comedic playwright in our time did this by applying different methods as he would utilise laughter to reel in the people persuading them to take his side, which is a remarkable concept to see being used in such an early time of Greece. One of Aristophanes most famous plays The Frogs has an underlying theme of how the old Athens is good and the new, bad and that Athens should turn back to men of keen integrity who were brought up in the style of noble and affluent families, a dominant exhortation in Aristophanes’ plays.
There is a strong relationship between mythology and religion, as both are very much faith driven. In the example of Greek mythology, there are many Gods and Goddesses, while in modern Christianity there is only one God, but the premise is still the same. In Christianity, people place their faith in God and let his will guide them throughout the trials and tribulations of their life, the same could be said of mythology, as to again use the Greeks as an example, people placed their faith in the Gods and Goddesses and let their actions be guided as such. The difference in Christianity and mythology in today’s time is that religion is thought to be fact, while mythology is believed to be fiction.
Greek and Roman theatre set the tone in writing and acting for the rest of history. It can not be said enough how underrated these buildings are when it comes to the advancement of society. Theatre has always been an art of expression and these two nations realized that early on. Creating these theatres has helped bring classic tales of tragedy and heroism to the eyes and ears of many individuals. The world will always be thankful to the Greeks for being the forefathers of the theatre.
