The Importance of the Human Resources Sergeant The Human Resources Sergeant is one of the most important players in the Profession of Arms. Whether it is on the battlefield or in the garrison, the Human Resources Sergeant plays a key role in ensuring that every aspect of the Soldiers life, from pay and allowances, to training and logistics, is correct and ready for the road to war. Human Resources Sergeants fill a vital role and ensure that all threads of a Soldier’s life are correctly processed and documented. Being a professional encompasses many things. (p.9) Professionals will come and go within a unit, but the overall mission will always remain the same, taking care of Soldiers. It is important to recognize that, with a new generation of Soldiers, they bring with them new cultural differences and experiences. This change in professional culture is an important avenue that Human Resources Sergeants have to be cognizant of. However, we cannot let that affect our work ethic, we need to remain focused and be the best Human Resources professional we can, no matter the changes. In order to maintain a good organizational culture, we need to make sure that the work climate remains free of tension and anger. To do this, we as professionals need to work together as a team. We need to be able to communicate with each other. We need to be able to talk about different ideas and feelings, whether they are negative or positive. And most of all, we must be able to change with the Army. Adaptability is our key to success. If we don’t communicate with each other the entire work climate suffers and with that, the readiness of our
