When you think of success what comes to mind? In sports it’s making it to the pros. In business it’s making your first million. In high school it can be as simple as acing that test you studied for all night. No matter what profession you are in, success is the desired goal.
While we have grown together as a pledge class, we have learned that although the pledge process requires commitment and a lot of extra time, it has built us significantly. Our time-management skills have improved as a necessity in the context of our own maturity. Through these moments I am proud to justify that we will soon be members of an organization larger than us. This bestowal placed upon us is an outstanding privilege we shall not take for granted and celebrate respectfully. I am honored to say you have all changed me for the better.
Those who achieve success do in fact work hard; however, there are also countless other factors that play a role in one’s success. Therefore, reading this book opened by eyes to the complexity of success. It is not simply one thing that can lead a person to success. Instead, it is a culmination of many factors that can allow a person to have a successful
Success is something you attract by the person you become. For things to improve, you have to improve. For things to get better, you have to get better. For things to change, you have to change. When you change, everything changes for you.”
Even though it went by quickly for you, it felt like an eternity for us, until we got onto this stage today. I remember watching this ceremony as a fifth grader, and never knowing how quickly we would be on the same stage. Now we are on stage, graduating as 8th graders to continue our education onto high school and eventually college. After walking out of those doors tonight, we will begin a new chapter in our lives.
Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, today, there is one very crucial question we would like to ask, and that question would be, what exactly does modern day slavery look like? It’s much more subtle than the usual whip touting slave owner that owns people openly, but rather, it’s something as simple as everyday commerce. Slaves of the modern day aren’t brutalized or punished in public much like they used to be, due to the fact that society has changed, and such actions simply wouldn’t be accepted anymore. No, in the modern day, slaves work in silent torture doing jobs such as tailoring, cooking, or being a maid. These slaves suffer due to their lack of economic options and their lack of knowledge, and they’re also usually immigrants fleeing from
What is success? What do people practice everyday to succeed in life? What do you need to succeed in life? I personally think that education is a great way to succeed in life. To get a good, quality education, students go to college and get educated.
Congratulations to the class of 2016, we have been on a long journey to get here today! We each came to Walden for different reasons yet we find ourselves with a common goal to make the world a better place one child at a time. We do this through our vision, mission and expectations created within ourselves and our University. We have achieved so much and will continue to do so after graduation because of the passion and drive we carry within each of us to make education better for every child.
Instead of taking a traditional route in explaining success as something that is your decision and will come because of your own work ethic as we are taught, Malcolm Gladwell explains how success is not one hundred percent in our own control. We, as humans, are differentiated in the world through our culture, gender, age, and race. He explains how all of these factors, as well as wealth and time, affect our chances of being successful in varying fields. Although many of the examples in this book are just theories created by Gladwell, I believe validity can be found behind many of them. Gladwell has found the Outliers in our world today and has explained why they have become who they are.
This ultimately sets you up for success. All in all, success is earned with hard work and taking advantage of all
I believe true success is only achieved when you accomplish a goal as a result of determination and action, not by waiting on luck or chance. In order for me to become successful, I must invest a lot of myself in to obtaining the goals I set for myself. hen it becomes my turn to take the AP Calculus Exam, I expect to receive a minimum score of a four. I also plan to take the BC Exam, so I am mentally preparing myself to work even harder than I am expected to. My goal is to use the college credit I will receive by passing the AP Calculus Exam and use it towards my undergraduate degree, which I hope to use to apply to medical school and become a doctor.
Success is not always determined by how smart you are or by the people you know. Success is achieved by something called grit. Grit is the will-power and determination to push yourself to reach long term goals. “The quality of being able to sustain your passions, and also work really hard at them, over really disappointingly long periods of time, that’s grit”, is the definition psychology professor and founder of the term “grit”, Angela Lee Duckworth gives us Sin(Duckworth). For example a college student with grit is much more likely to succeed than someone without it.
Success is found in all goals that are accomplished no matter how small or large that they are. Being successful doesn 't always mean that one must accomplish goals that are hard. To others it could be marrying the person they love. To be happy with that person for the rest of their life is a big success. Being successful at an educational standpoint would be graduating college with a degree in a future career.
Becoming successful in life takes time and dedication. Many people relate success to money, but success comes in numerous ways. Being successful throughout college will not come easy. Transitioning into college can be very difficult.
You can bear with me all successful people in any field always say they worked hard to be where they are. Concluding, “Hard work pays. ” You will succeed if you will work hard towards your
