Annie Dryden Essay Have you ever gone hunting? In the short story “The Most Dangerous game” Zaroff, our antagonist, makes people play a game that is not fair at all. Our protagonist Rainsford ends up on an evil island called ship trap island. While on this island he meets Zaroff and learns out why the island is considered evil, Zaroff hunts people on that island. Some of the main reasons the game isn't fair are the weapons each player gets aren't equal, the “prey” doesn't know the island as well as Zaroff does, and Zaroff is considered to be the best hunter in the world.

However, the stark difference between the two characters is the General Zaroff hunts humans and Rainsford hunts big game. Connell made sure to write this similarity into the story for the sake of foreshadowing.

He uses several different methods to cheat his way into the game he is playing with Rainsford; dogs, Ivan, a gun, and the isolated island itself. Connell sets up the dilemma from whether hunting is a brutal activity or an amusing sport. Deciding on one or the other depends a lot on how the reader feels about animals. Rainsford’s attitude suggests his willingness to commit violence without considering any of the moral implications. The reader quickly forgets about that position once they meet General Zaroff.

A man walks through the humid jungle, weaving between the vines and heavy growth of trees. He keeps his breathing even, accordingly avoiding any twigs or underbrush that would cause the slightest of sounds. The worn man is in pursuit, tracking his prey. Suddenly, his expression changes, the sound of barking dogs filling his ears. The man, Sanger Rainsford, is no longer the hunter.
The Most Dangerous Game Throughout the globe, people cherish hunting. It can be challenging, but still a great way of entertainment. Morally, hunting animals is okay or adequate, because it stays within reason. However, in “The Most Dangerous Game”, General Zaroff is convinced that killing humans for sport is acceptable. That idea is very absurd, for many different reasons.
Rainsford is initially shown to not show any empathy to the wild animals he hunts. Zaroff is no different, with him declaring, “I hunt the scum of the earth: sailors from tramp ships--lassars, blacks, Chinese, whites, mongrels,” (9). Zaroff hunts humans who have the unfortunate luck to arrive on Ship-Trap Island. Zaroff gives no second thought about hunting humans because he finds them to be the perfect sport to hunt, and finds pleasure in hunting them. In the short story, “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, the protagonist, Sanger Rainsford, and the antagonist, General Zaroff, are similar characters.
In Richard Connell’s short story ‘’The Most Dangerous Game,” a world class hunter and author Sanger Rainsford finds himself running from a psychotic general on a secluded tropical island. Rainsford has to not only run for his life, but mortally fight back to survive a deadly game of hunt or be hunted. Theme of the story is role reversal, which forces Rainsford to change over the course of the story. In fact, Rainsford’s perception of hunting and of the animal's feelings reverse completely. He realizes that his idea of what animals felt like was wrong in its entirely, and through understanding what it is like to be hunted, he becomes less ignorant and naive.
While reading the text by Ojito, one begins to wonder what message does the death of Marcelo Lucero send to legal and illegal immigrants in the United States. First and foremost, the killing of an innocent man because he was not seen as the other town members and labeled a “beaner,” conveys the message of exclusion. Even though the U.S. prides themselves in past immigrant traditions, and advocacy programs have been established to establish more acceptable immigrant rights ¬even for those who are undocumented; this country still portrays a message of not only exclusion but also hurt as well. Ultimately, making those seen as “outsiders” unwelcomed in the country. This idea of making those unwelcome is seeded from deep-rooted fear.
Obsessions of the Hunt Hunting has always been a part of humanity, but in the short story “The Most Dangerous Game,” by Richard Connell, one man takes the hunt too far. A world renowned hunter named Rainsford is put to the test when he became the prey to a man named General Zaroff. As Rainsford runs and hides for his life, the general gleefully hunts him down. The general is obsessed with the thrill and challenges of the hunt, and resorts to hunting men to challenge himself even more when animals start to bore him. The greatest controlling characteristic of General Zaroff can only be his obsession of the hunt.
Hunters believe animals are not capable of reasoning and they see them as something lesser than humans. Throughout time, these positions can change. The short story, “The Most Dangerous Game” written by Richard Connell, consists of General Zaroff being the hunter and Rainsford being the hunted. During the story, their positions change to the complete opposite.
General Zaroff is different, to say the least, in Richard Connell’s book, “The Most Dangerous Game.” Rainsford is stranded on a deserted island, or so he thinks. Rainsford comes upon a mansion that is owned by General Zaroff. He knows of Rainsford, who is a renowned author of a book about the hunt, as well as everything and everywhere Rainsford has hunted. General Zaroff is also a hunter, but he goes to the extreme.
From the book “The Most Dangerous Game” General Zaroff was an remarkable hunter he had hunted so many animals but he was bored of that and started hunting people who came upon his island. The main example from the book was that the General was a hunter and the people and Rainsford were the huntees. Richard said at the beginning
