Throughout the assignment leadership was the focus and how one person can make a large impact on the world and something they believe in. I have learned a lot about what it takes to be a leader and how Malala Yousafzai impacted her community and the world. Within a focus of leadership I have learned about what makes a good leader, how Malala fits into the definition and how I can become a leader in my school and community. A leader is someone who has a new idea or a new approach to a cause or issue. They most often the confident and outspoken in the group, they speak up louder than the rest. Leaders are innovators and entrepreneurs. They see a need for change and they begin the process of changing the world. Leaders empower those around them and the world to stand up for what they want and believe in. Leadership is a concept that requires the engagement of a community towards a shared goal. In the book I am Malala there are many leaderships styles and approaches. As a young girl living in Swat Valley, Pakistan Malala had to fight for her education. She was raised to value education and had dreams of becoming a politician. While She was still in primary school Taliban forces took control of Swat valley. This was devastating for Malala, especially when they issued a decree that all girls schools close. Instead of sitting idly by she pursued her education and began writing about her experiences for the BBC. She began speaking to anyone and everyone in the media she could about her message.
