The word ‘prey,’ a chilling noun used to represent one being hunted. The word ‘prey’ is an obvious “it depends how you use it word, but how Bram Stoker uses it in Dracula is truly evil. Although Bram Stoker uses the word ‘prey’ figuratively through Dracula, when used literally it is at its most chilling. Stoker is using ‘prey’ commonly like anybody in our modern times would. Saying that something is “preying at one’s mind” or like a nag in more subtle terms.
It was a couple of days before Graduation Day. Samuel heard some commotion outside the cafeteria. A couple of minutes later, there was a noise of breaking glass and a heavy explosion nearby. Samuel and nearby students went into the kitchen for a place to hide. They waited countless hours waiting while the SWAT team arrived to save the classmates.
In the text, Dana states his argument by saying that Americans are losing interest in the arts and literature. Dana supports his arguments by using the 2002 survey of public participation in Arts with additional consensus similar to this, recites the quote of a known author and uses parallelism like “imagination, creativity and high order of thinking.” The main idea or purpose is to draw attention to this problem and to try to fix it because it will pose a serious danger for the future. The primary audience is the youth of the American people. In his introduction, Dana compares the positive aspects in American life and the main idea: the lack of interest shown by young Americans in the arts.
Joel’s friends victimized him every day, but his school only had a meeting with the perpetrator’s parents to reprimand them. It didn’t improve his situation. Also, Joel’s mother should have been more concerned and been closer to him. Joel was only twelve, so he needed the concerns from his family, school and society. The Board of Education needed to be responsible for the death of Joel Morales, and the four bullies must be punished.
Quenching the Thirst: Are we talking about lemons? Vampires have problems in their marriage just like most humans do except that there is no “Until death do us part” in Karen Russel’s story “Vampires In The Lemon Grove”. Magreb and Clyde are vampires that are quenching their thirst together for eternity. Their choice of residence is in a Lemon Grove that satisfies their thirst with the lemons.
Everyone in the school knows the teacher beats children.

The cool air swoops in and out behind me as the door slams close. Immediately I feel the pressure of hundreds of eyes glaring at me. I glide my feet down the school hallway, secretly hoping that today will be different. Today I can avoid all the drama and pain. I arrive at my locker and open it, only for it to be shut a second later by the wannabee herself Ms. Amber Jones.
Our school was somewhat prepared for an event like this to happen. We had black shutters to pull over the window on the doors and emergency bags with supplies in them in each room. Although we probably shouldn’t have continued on with our lesson since we were making noise and we didn’t know where the threatening man was located at in the school building, I didn’t feel that threatened by the whole situation. Our teacher knew how to keep us calm which is what they should be educated on how to do. The man who was a threat to our school was in the elementary portion of our school the entire time, but no one knew this during the lockdown.
When I was doing research for “The Truth About Lies in the Workplace,” I was disappointed not to find more studies on how culture influences our definition (and experience) of being told a lie. I wish I had met Stuart Friedman sooner! Stuart is the CEO of Global Context, a company that specializes in helping clients improve performance by understanding how world cultures affect verbal and non-verbal communications, follow through, commitments, relationship priorities, and what constitutes an “agreement.” (He can be reached directly at
Danijela Akrapovic ENGL 1104-70 John Berke Chapter 8 questions 2/2/2018 Vampires Never Die Questions on Meaning 1. “With “The vampire” Polidori gave birth to the two main branches of vampiric fiction: the vampire as a romantic hero, and the vampire as a undead monster (Del Toro and Hogan, par.4). I believe, del Toro and Hogan wrote this essay because they wanted to give details of how vampires are made and analyze the motivation behind why they never die. Their purpose was to also draw comparisons on how these two-vampire fictions are similar in the myth and philosophy with angels. They likewise demonstrate how science has an extensive influence in what vampires are viewed as.
For my costume rendering I decided to go with a transylvanian theme. I chose this theme because I have a passion for the history that took place there, but also a love of the stories and folktales that have been shared. For my renderings I specifically decided to base one of my costumes off of the well known story of Count Dracula. First I would like to explain my Witch costume.
To start off, this story takes place at burton elementary school I was in the 4th grade living my life like a normal boy would in the 4th grade.
