District Common Assessment “I could hear my father's car keening in the distance .”You're one in a million,it cried” (1). This statement shows Ashleigh’s love for her father. Her parents are divorced and her father is an outgoing man and her mother as it said in the story “is as straight as a yardstick “. As you can see they are very different and her dad needs a little bit of help.The father needs to take money from her mother and Ashleigh is the only one who can do it.Ashleigh chose to help her father because she spent more time with her dad instead of her mother, she had a closer bond with her father , and she thinks her dad needs help. It appears that Ashleigh spent more time with her dad instead of her mother. The first reason why Ashleigh spent more time with her father instead of her mother because most of her tuesdays and thursdays with her dad because her mom was busy with classes those days because she was still working on completing her degree.
