Introduction
For some when enterprise architecture (EA) is mentioned they immediately assume that it is the same thing as information technology architecture. In these situations organizations the CIO has prioritized the organized the modernization of the organizations web technologies, integrations standards, development tools, and databases (Curran, 2010) without consideration of how these systems affect the business functions, priorities, or goals of the organization. This will allow the DMV to effectively use the knowledge that is stored on all information systems throughout the organization to improve efficiencies through collaboration. The EA will facilitate leadership at all levels to conduct an assessment of their department, such as the finance department who requests for an integrated financial component will allow it to allocate revenues appropriately.
Examples from Other Organizations When faced the requirement to align its IT with business, document rapidly changing information, and standardize processes, Nissan division serving Africa, Middle East, India, and Europe chose to utilize EA. This project focused showing the links between business processes and IT resources that included 624 applications and 1000+ assets in the IT environment (Myers, 2013) facilitating the transfer of operations to a third party. The standardizing of business processes in an organization that is multi-national and multi-cultural has allowed operations to be seamless for country to country. …show more content…
