The purposefulness of ISLLC is to define the roles of school leaders through a set of common standards, which describe the expected behavioral outcomes produced by K-12 educational leaders. According to ISLLC standards, a school administrator is an educational leader who promotes the success of all students by ensuring management of the organization, operations, and resources for a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment (Council of Chief State School Officers, 2002).

Standard three makes a school leader think about all the responsibilities duties that pertain to the job. Being a school leader based on standard three means being the instructional leader for the entire building. As a school leader, students must come first in all aspects. School leaders must be able to help students achieve success. Student must be able to have a positive learning environment. School leaders have a duty to hire teachers that will support student learning and support instruction. Looking at the major functions of this standard and my personal experience as an educator, it proves that school leaders must create a learning environment that will assist in maintaining the school mission and goals. Educators must be able to foster and create a learning environment in which it is student oriented and one that will aid in the process success for all students.
