ISTJ is the personality type I have always received when I have taken a test to determine my personality style when using a test with the Jung’s and Briggs Myers’ theories of personality types. When reading through what an ISTJ tends to be I see a lot of what I am in the description. Whether it be in what social situations I prefer to be a part of or how I perceive people. I also see how I make decisions, the values I hold for myself, and how I set up goals in the description of what makes an ISTJ. I found out what I wanted to major in as well by taking one of these tests and seeing what fields ISTJs excel at. I am a huge ETSU basketball fan, and I try not to miss a home game. ETSU was going to play Southern Conference archrival, Chattanooga, at home on a Saturday. I had to say I could not attend the basketball game to my group of friends who I go to basketball games with, or to my church friends who were going to the church conference. This ETSU basketball games at home against Chattanooga is always one of the biggest games of the year since rejoining the Southern Conference. I had already told the college church group I would go a long time before, but I also did not know we played Chattanooga at home on that weekend at the time. I prefer smaller groups of friends of which I can form a closer bond. Another trait of an introvert is that I tend to avoid large gatherings of people. This is very true of me since when I do have to be in large groups of people I get very flustered and overwhelmed just with the shear amount of activity. I would always choose to rather hang out with a group or pair of friends over a large gathering of people. The test also states that ISTJ personalities are frustrated when other parties fail to keep their commitments. I agree with this to the fullest extent, since one of my three values as stated earlier was loyalty. Loyalty is hard to come by and I hold that up high as something important that I give to others and expect in return. Personalities with sensing and judging are said to be traditionalists, and I am myself a traditionalist in every sense of the word. I go to a traditional protestant church and try to avoid churches where contemporary services are held. I prefer tradition over changes in most everything. My political beliefs follow this concept as well. The way things have been done have worked and been great, so I think why fix something that is not broken. All the changes in the modern world, I see as destroying the foundation of a world that needs less changing and more
