Imagine this…you're living in a world where everything is normal, but there’s a twist: you're defined by a number. One signature that could possibly ruin your life, a chance at love or royalty. Well in The Selection by Kiera Cass, the protagonist, America is labeled by a number, where it describes her place in society. She joins a competition to either win Maxon's heart or the respect of the people while trying. This is a story about how America needs to let go of the past and run towards the future before it’s too late, maybe even having to trust her life with the one person that could ruin her, Maxon. For example, he's a very powerful person whose life is mainly represent.Where he had find love as a tv show and has to hide his feelings because he’s put out to the public point of view, where he can't trust someone because they might using him for power .It shows that he doesn't have anyone to trust or to love because of what could happen behind the curtains when he's not there.Which also shows how America saw that,were in the story it states“He looked hesitant about sharing, but he took a breath and spoke. “Maybe I was just flattering myself, thinking I’d be worth some sort of risk”(Cass 174) This shows that he only thinks of himself.But that’s not a bad thing especially since he doesn't know how one might think of him.It shows that he can't trust anyone since he has a lot of power that people can take.It also shows how people can take advantage of that.It also reveals that he might be asking for help but he doesn't know how to and America sees that.For example he doesn't have anyone to open up to because they might use it against it but the bond he created with America truly shows his
