The class starts with the circle time where all children share about their weekend. Student M appears to keep it short, clear and simple so no one can notice the language difference. The teacher asks children for quite reading. The teacher makes three children sit next to her so she can observe and improve their reading skills. Student M always read the book quietly. She seems avoiding sitting with the teacher. In the literacy class, the teacher explains facts and opinions. She used the blackboard to write. Student M starts taking notes on the workbook from the blackboard. She uses basic forms of punctuation while writing. The teacher explains children through the examples. The teacher provides opportunities for children active participation through discussion. Children are involved in the task. The teacher encourages good communication between her and learners. Student M does not raise any questions. It seems like student M does not pay much attention when the teacher explains. She concentrates more on taking notes from the blackboard and then looking at colleagues work. Then the teacher makes group of two children and gives them worksheets to complete. Student M seems more interested in-group task than an individual task. The teacher encourages interaction among learners through the task. The teacher makes a group of four children and she encourages them to discuss the examples with each other. Student M participates in a meaningful way and she discusses her two examples. Out of two examples, one is wrong and one is right. Another child explains through sharing her example. The children experience the cooperative learning. In cooperative learning through active participation in interactions between the group members, children solve problems while benefiting from the insights of others (Hoffnung et al., 2013). Then the teacher gave them an individual task to complete. Children have the option to choose a worksheet, or an I pad to complete their task. Most schools use technology as an educational tool that helps children to grow their knowledge. The schools have moved to a digital operational base, as they are willing to collaborate, teach the young and distribute the control of teaching and learning (Lee and Ward, 2013, cited in Lee, 2014). Student M chooses an I pad. The teacher asks if anyone has any questions regarding the topic they can come and sit with the teacher. While most of the children are doing the task, some children sit with the teacher to get help. Student M keeps doing her task without any help.
