Inclusion is ensuring that all pupils have equal opportunities, are welcomed and valued in our school community. Our ethos at Friendlydale Academy is to value every child as an individual and acknowledge that every child’s needs are special.
Finding a way to target each students developmental stage, as well as staying age appropriate for students is complicated and often challenging. It is especially difficult when teachers have such limited resources and purchase many materials on their own. Although it is a challenge it is important both socially and academically to introduce these students to age appropriate content and materials when teaching. One way that I am able to use TPE 6: Developmentally Appropriate Teaching Practices is to use low level high interest books and texts. I also use close reading methods and other scaffolding techniques when we do read grade level material.
This demonstrates my understanding of effective learning though appropriate instructional strategies because is displays how I implemented a variety of materials and technological resources to support my instructional strategies and reinforce student learning. It also conveys my ability to assess student’s through both formal (activity sheet) and informal (thumbs up) assessment techniques. These techniques help me evaluate the student’s strengths/weaknesses and the effectiveness of my instructional strategies. This particular skill outcome is important to early childhood education because implementing instructional strategies that reach the diversity of our students is going to promote overall student success. Health care has witnessed a significant shift from a reactive practice (treatment) to that of proactive (prevention) in efforts to improve societal health. With this change, it has opened the door for communities to become active change agents by investigating disparities that impede the rights of the people to achieve and maintain their optimal level of health. To that end, community health cannot be improved unless civic leaders and public health professionals gain insight into the needs of the people. Important to note, not all needs are the same, they often differ by age, race, ethnicity, as well as socioeconomic position. For this reason, it’s important first to identify your target audience followed by the development of a survey.
Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP)? Illustrate how DAP is child-centered? “Developmentally Appropriate Practice, often shortened to DAP, is an approach to teaching grounded in the research on how young children develop and learn and in what is known about effective early education. Its framework is designed to promote young children’s optimal learning and development.” (National Association for the Education of Young Children, 2009) DAP is a tool that guides teachers in making good decisions for the children, both as individuals and as part of a group, based on their understanding of the child’s development and learning as well as in setting learning goals that are both challenging and realisable for the children.
My current knowledge base pertaining to ESSA and LCAP was limited prior to attending the Reforming Education for the 31st Century ESSA and LCAP. My initial thoughts and emotions regarding this event were ones of enthusiasm and willingness, as obtaining vital funding information is a critical step towards my pathway to leadership. Informative and purposeful are two overall lasting impressions that are embedded within my inner self, as I gained essential knowledge from this event. I felt the overall flow and proceedings were flawless and engaging. More importantly, this event created a space where educational leaders from a variety of communities could converse on topics relating to educational funding and educational interventions.
Differentiation, with respect to instruction, means tailoring it to meet individual needs of the students. Teachers can differentiate content, process, products, or the learning environment, the use of ongoing assessment and flexible grouping makes this a successful approach to instruction. Teachers differentiate the four classroom elements based on student readiness, interest, or learning profile. (Tomlinson 2000). Differentiated instruction can be known as an organizing framework in teaching and learning which calls for a major restructuring in the classroom and syllabus, if done in the proper way, its benefits will transgress the costs.
According to Wagner, humanistic approach is primarily a reaction to the two major views of humanity which are the Freudian perspective and the behavioral perspective thus humanitaristic approach is the “third force”. Humanistic approach highly gives emphasis to the individual that learning how to learn is more important than acquiring factual knowledge. Direct instruction does not include activities like discussion, recitation, seminars, workshops, case studies, or internships. DI is probably the most popular teaching strategy that is used by teachers to facilitate learning. It is teacher directed and follows a definite structure with specific steps to guide pupils toward achieving clearly defined learning outcomes. The teacher maintains the locus of control over the instructional process and monitors pupils ' learning throughout the process.
In January 1901, free primary education was given and a school for Filipino teachers who were willing to teach and the recruited trained teachers in America was established. Americans gave bright young Filipino students opportunity to enroll in higher education in American colleges and universities. Filipinos came to be known as the pensionados because they government financed free education to the Filipinos. Hundreds of Filipinos was able to study in the US until 1928. As Filipino children wanted to study, they have enrolled to public and private schools.

In the Philippines, the 1987 Philippine Constitution declares that education is a right of every Filipino (Maligalig, 2010). Thus, the policies of the government on education have been primarily about education for all citizens. Being a right, this must benefit every member of the Philippine population regardless of their language and ethnicity. The right to education, however, must not be confined in the context of being able to go to school or having more areas and structures for schooling. The right to education is undermined and meaningless if teachers are under-trained, learning curricula and materials are irrelevant and learning environment is unsafe and not conducive (Mapa, 2013).
