A big part of my leadership experience is my involvement in the student ministry at my church. I am in my second year of being a part of our Student Leadership Team which is lucky enough to have a big hand in the lives of many teens from multiple school districts. As an SLT member we are required to do: announcements, that are done at the start of every night; attend leadership meetings every other week, to talk about future events and our direction as a ministry; and teaching a lesson to the entire ministry, at least once a year. Being on this team has caused me to not only grow as a leader, but to also grow as a person in general. However, with this club being religious, my fellow leaders and I ran into a small issue with administration as to the ability of hosting it during school hours. I was able to do research on the topic and come to an agreement with administration. Our club is completely student run because of state laws on the topic of religion in public schools, this opportunity also allows me and the other leaders to gain more experience with leadership as a whole. We are able to gain a new level of depth to our view of leading others because of the factor that it is completely reliant on us. One of the unique opportunities that I am given because of my spot on the student leadership team is the ability to teach a lesson to the entire ministry.
