The play “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare is one of the most iconic works of literature of the renaissance period. The play is about two families, the Capulets and the Montagues, and their children, Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet are star-crossed lovers, and in the end, die from the associated consequences. The true cause of their deaths, however, is commonly debated in schools everywhere, but lack of communication and impulsive behavior were the cause of Romeo and Juliet’s deaths. Lack of Communication was one of the main reasons for Romeo and Juliet’s death in the play. When Romeo goes to Juliet’s tomb, he kills himself without waiting to see if Juliet would wake up, which also leads to Juliet killing herself when she sees Romeo dead. He says, “Thou desperate pilot, now at once run on the dashing rocks thy seasick weary bark! Here’s to my love! O true apothecary! Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die,” (Act 5, Scene 3, Lines 117-120). When Romeo gets to Juliet in the Capulet tomb, he immediately assumes that Juliet is dead and kills himself without even looking at Juliet before he dies. Romeo and Juliet also get married too quickly, not letting them think about future consequences that might happen because of that. When the Friar is about to wed the two, he says, “Come, come with me, and we will make short work, for, by your leaves, you shall not stay alone till Holy Church incorporate two in one,” (Act 2, Scene 6, Lines 35-37). When Romeo saw Juliet at the Capulet party at the beginning of the play, it was love at first sight. Even after Romeo knew that Juliet was a Capulet, and Juliet knew that Romeo was a Montague, they still didn’t think about the consequences and got married too quickly.
