The opportunity to study in a well-balanced, well-structured course on the Old Testament was one of the several moments that changed my perspective in the overall learning process. In the past, by attending church and with Bible study groups, I have studied the Pentateuch quite a bit, but the historical aspects of the rest of the Old Testament were mysteriously vague in my mind. The method in which the textbook’s authors mapped out the course of events and then to cross them over into a timeline I could easily grasp, allowed for a deeper understanding of the fall of the temple. The fact of the matter was I had been stuck, in a sense, somewhere around the beginning of 2 Samuel with my personal reading. So with the new insight from this course, I will be able to intensely continue with a much needed historical backdrop to clarify the content.
In bible study group we would perform word studies, such as the one we wrote about on the word vanity, or there were various themes, such as women in the Bible. Although this was an excellent way to understand the highlighted information, I was missing the total picture of the actual history behind the stories. When I finished the Book of 1 Samuel, the battles became a confusing issue, which led to my skipping around in the Bible to keep in practice. The problem, I was starting to realize, was the people

There was a desperation in my heart to find answers for some really terrible things going on, but this book was where many outsiders were telling me to search when I asked. That God wants us to minister to others was another defining moment, and in one way or another, I plan to include this as a part of my teaching career. The reason I went through those difficult times led me here, so, as for now, I am a work in progress and whatever direction God sees for my future I am prepared to listen this
