The person responsible for the misfortune to the White family in the Monkey's paw is Mr. White. The Monkey’s Paw is a short story by W.W. Jacobs is a story about a paw that grants three people three wishes. The family gets the paw but the catch is that each wish comes at a cost. The family's first son causes their son's death.
Who do u think caused Herbert death? In the “Monkey Paw” by W.W Jacobs. A family friend brought a magical monkey paw and told a story. Their son has a horrible death. Was it the paw.
In the story, “Monkey’s Paw,” the son Herbert dies. Unbelieving Herbert said many things that lead to his death. I believe Herbert is to blame. Even though, Herbert didn’t believe in the paw he is still responsible for his own death. Herbert was making a joke out of the scary paw.
In the story, “The Monkey’s Paw”, the White’s acquire a monkey’s paw from an old friend. The friend reveals that the paw is considered magic and then gives it to the Whites, starting a chain of events that brings sorrow to the family. However, just who is responsible for the misfortune that came to the Whites? Sergeant-
Have any of you read the Monkey’s Paw? If you had to choose one person to place the blame of Herbert’s death on, who would you choose? In this story by W.W. Jacobs, one simple talisman was given to a family, and it flipped their lives upside down. There are several examples that show Mr. White is the most responsible for Herbert’s death. Numerous warnings were given to Mr. White after he stopped the paw from being destroyed.
I believe the Whites deserved what happened to them on account of them choosing to use the monkey's paw. Despite the fact that Morris told them about the dangers of the monkey’s paw, they became greedy for the three wishes. They knew what the consequences were, nevertheless, they wanted to wish, and they got what was coming to them. So in summary, I believe that the Whites deserved what happened to them due to their decision of using the monkey’s paw.
Have you ever touched a paw and made a wish? In ‘’The Monkey’s Paw’’ by W.W Jacob a man name Herbert made a wish, so he can die. Herbert is the most responsible for his own death, which you will see through out several examples from the text. The evidence will show that Herbert is the most responsible if for his own death.
Blame its not a great thing but it is powerful. And in the story, “The Monkey’s Paw”,blame runs rampant as to who is responsible for there misfortune and the death of Mr. White’s son, Herbert. There are many to blame for this question, but the answer has been found. Mrs. White although not the first person who comes to mind she is the one responsible for her manipulation and general curiosity and the downfall of the Whites.
Greed is a terrible thing that can tear family and friendships apart. The Whites’ greed killed their son, Herbert, because of their greed. But they didn’t know that their actions would cause his death. They family wished for 200 pounds (277.74 American dollars). In the short story the Monkey’s Paw, the Whites learned that greed can bring consequences that both are good and bad.
Unfortunately, in the story, “Monkey Paw,” the son Herbert dies, I believe Herbert is the blame. Herbert was the blame of death because he stated in the story “If the tale about the monkeys paw is not more truthful than those he has been telling us; we shan’t make much us of it”. He didn’t really think about what the paw was capable of. Also he said “we’ll just wish for 200lbs, then; that’ll just do it.”
That creates suspense because the reader wants to know why he wished for death. It foreshadows that the paw brings bad luck. Sergeant Major Morris also tells the Whites “…don’t blame me for what happens” (Jacobs 91). It foreshadows that something very bad is going to happen. Herbert foreshadows his death by saying the quote “Well I don’t see the money…and I bet I never shall”(134-135 Jacobs).
The conflict in the story is not only the monkey’s paw but was somewhat Mr. White’s attitude. If he never was that greedy the story would have changed he would have agreed with Morris and burned the monkey’s paw but he didn’t want to do that creating the plot. Any change in the plot could have/ would have altered the course of the story but also altering the theme. In “The Monkey’s Paw,” the downfall of the White family is when they receive the two hundred pounds as a compensation for the son’s death which was actually caused by messing with fate.
In the story, “Monkey Paw”, the son Herbert dies. I believe Sergeant Major is the guy to blame. Since Sergeant Major knew the dangers of the paw he is responsible of Herbert’s death. In the passage it states, “He took some things out his pocket and proffer it.”
Have you ever watched a suspenseful movie about magic? Have you ever wished you had your own genie that would grant you three wishes? However, the three wishes aren 't exactly what you wished for? Well in the story the Monkey’s Paw that pattern seems to be happening a lot.
