Waste Management, Inc. (WM) Consultation Report
Introduction
Waste Management, Inc.'s 2016 Sustainability Fact Sheet describes the company, founded in 1971, as, "the largest environmental solutions provider in North America, serving more than 21 million municipal, commercial and industrial customers in the U.S. and Canada" (para. 2). At the end of the 2014 financial year the company employed approximately 39,800 full time employees (WM Form 10-K, 2014, p. 10). Waste Management Inc.'s 2014 Annual Report states an income from all operations of US$2.3 billion, with US$1.3 billion attributed directly to Waste Management, Inc.'s operations (p. 110).
Accomplishments...
Lawrence O'Donnell III, President and Chief Operating Officer of Waste Management from 2004 - 2010, appeared in the 2009 debut episode of CBS television's Undercover Boss. During the episode O'Donnell's real identity was kept from Waste Management employees while he worked beside them performing menial, minimum-wage, waste processing services. O'Donnell, who made in excess of $2.7 million in 2009 (WM 2009 Annual Report, p. 32), cleaned portable toilets, picked up trash by hand, performed dump truck garbage collection and sorted recyclable materials.

Therefore, the dearth of newspaper reports or online articles covering adverse behaviors by the company does seem surprising, if not suspicious. However, a Google search for, "Waste Management Subsidiary Companies," sheds some light on this. The search returns myriad results such as; E.C. Waste, Inc., Chambers Development Company, CWM Chemical Services, L.L.C., Arden Landfill, Inc., and many more. The basic information for these subsidiaries is corroborated on the Bloomberg.com website in the ' Company Overview' section
