Incompatibility of Hinduism and Christianity Christianity and Hinduism make a footprint in the world when it comes to religion. In stark contrast to Christianity, Hinduism lies in an entirely different plane due to the Hindu’s polytheistic principles on which their religion stands. Through analysis and research, the lack of compatibility between Christianity and Hinduism is determined.
As followers of Christ assemble, their goal is to worship in the name of the Lord. Christians believe in one God, but they worship in a group, which will typically be done in a church, to glorify His Holy name. In contrast to Hinduism’s view of creation, Christians believe that God is the ultimate creator. The Bible begins by saying, “God created the Heaven and the Earth…” (Genesis 1:1). The story of creation is different for Hinduism. Hindus believe there is no ultimate creator and that the universe always existed (The Heart of Hinduism). Another example of how Hinduism and Christianity differ is in the way of worship. Christians are more likely to worship in church. God explains His importance for His people to attend church by saying, “But I say, Have they not heard? Yes, verily their sound went into all the earth, and their words onto the ends of the world” (Romans 10:17). Hindus will sometimes worship in a temple, but they will also worship at home. Christians do not worship at home unless they have a daily devotion or quiet time with God. The purpose of a preacher is designed by God for the sole purpose of preparing, “For the perfecting of the Saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ” (Ephesians 4:12). As far as what to expect when the world ends, both religions believe different things. Hindus believe in reincarnation whereas Christianity believes in Heaven and Hell. The process of reincarnation is described as, “ the process of passing from one body to another throughout all species of life. Hindus believe that consciousness is present in all life forms” (The Heart of Hinduism). If Hindus do good deeds, then they will be rewarded with good karma when they die. If they are awarded with good karma, then they will be reborn into some form of reward. The only way Christianity recognizes rebirth is if one is a born-again savior. A born-again Savior is defined by recognizing that Jesus as the Messiah.
