Minimum Wage Increase
One of the most talked about topics in our country seems to be would an increase in minimum wage benefit positive or negative for many individuals and our economy. The increase in minimum wage is essential that will benefit greatly from unemployment, strengthened education power towards the economy, and spirits of the hardworking individuals who will be fairly rewarded they deserve for their hard work of their jobs.
What Americans are looking for in jobs that are available are the ones that provide good wages. And according to Roznik, “much of our unemployment or underemployment is based on the low availability of jobs that do provide a living wage”. The cost of living has gone up drastically, and there are many hardworking workers who have horrific stories about what life is like to live off from the minimum wage. The things they do they have no choice to make, and the everyday struggle they suffer from. And while there are some people that are under extreme poverty, there can be others that can’t even afford some basic needs such as medical care or can even eat. No matter how hard they work, they are falling further behind in their dreams and are expected to take home little of the amount than they deserve. It’s not right that they are expected to take home so little despite the fact they are producing more than they work on and must endure the amount of struggle they’re going through. Which is why that a country as great as ours shouldn’t be paying people so little that they need help from the state just to survive. (Perez) Many of people who would benefit are the ones who are trying to raise families from their minimum wage jobs. Everyone knows how much hard work must be resulted to be rewarded the good wage they fairly deserved to live upon. And with an increase in minimum wage, it will help resolve the problem with poverty that needs to be dealt with for our economic
