Introduction For this question, I will call to mind buildings like the white house, the chamber of commerce, or some older courthouses. These are all examples of Greek influence on modern architecture. As well as our culture in some ways. Why Do you think the architect(s) chose to copy classical style? I can not with utter certainty say why they chose Greek architecture as the foundation for their work. Since I cannot get into their heads or go back in time to live in that period so that I may better understand. What I can do though is guess so I will make an educated guess as to why but I will admit this is not a perfect answer. The first reason is that it simply works. Why mess with a system that has proven itself to work countless times in history? I mean when these building would have been designed the architect whether in 1700 or 1900 would have seen the ability of Doric and Ionic styles to last the test of time. As well as the fact that Greek architecture plays well with awkward pieces of ground so if they were building something on a hill they could make it appear perfectly level as well have made it structurally sound. As well as the columns disperse weight well so they would be able to get almost as large as they wanted safely. Second, the reason would have to be power. There is nothing quite as intimidating as walking into a building under massive Greek columns that often were set in such a way as to look far larger than they often were. It would also make a
