Cancer ,also called malignancy, is an abnormal growth of cells. It sounds scary, but when you look at the dictionary definition it doesn't seem as scary. Caner can be a scary thing and most people can get nervous when there is even a possibility of cancer. There are more than 100 types of cancer, including breast cancer, skin cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, and lymphoma, but the one that is being researched is breast cancer.
Breast cancer is an uncontrolled growth of breast cells. To better understand breast cancer, it helps to understand how any cancer can develop. Benign tumors are not cancerous, because their cells are close to normal in appearance, while growing slowly, and do not invade tissues or spread to other parts in the body. Malignant tumors are cancerous and if left unchecked can eventually spread beyond the original tumor to others parts in the body.
Breast cancer is always caused by a genetic mistake. Only 5-10% of cancer patients get cancer from genetics that are inherited from their mother or father.
